“Much of the work we do as creators, as leaders, as people seeking to make change–it needs to ferment, to create character and tension and impact. And if we rush it, we get nothing worth very much.”
– Seth Godin
Reminder to self to put in the work and the time and not to rush it because more is being created and shaped than the medium upon the canvas. I am becoming as well…
“I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious, and happy.”
A simple affirmation from the Master Key System to ward off thoughts of fear, jealousy, anger, and anxiety. We may not always be able to keep ourselves from thinking negative thoughts but we can shut them down with positive affirmations.
Below: Watercolor color play… totally enjoying the process of discovery new shades, tones, and transparencies. I think I am going to expand this color play into final paintings. Hmmm… wheels are turning.
“Being satisfied with what we already have is a magical golden key to being alive in a full, unrestricted, and inspired way. One of the major obstacles to what is traditionally called enlightenment is resentment, feeling cheated, holding a grudge about who you are, where you are, what you are.”
On our creative journey,
Jealousy is the angry backseat driver.
S/He may be pointing you in the right direction
but can never be trusted to take the wheel.
Listen to your Jealousy,
Let it show you what your soul is yearning for.
Then sternly tell it to pipe down
and adjust your coordinates as needed.
For all who start at something new
the start is at the start;
The inception point is different
for every striving heart;
Be you old or be you young
there is no short way through,
for on the road to finding self
the journey must be true.
To each his own burden.
To each his own plight.
The pursuit of one’s self
is the purpose of life.
In silence there is presence
of deep wisdom,
and abundant resources;
Those most intimate
with the whispers of the Universe
are best fitted to receive.
For all things,
good and noble,
are borne when
Universe and mind
Calluses grow thick.
Heartbeat throbs in fingertips.
Strum on, pain is growth.
Reacquainting myself with the guitar and poetry… marrying them in this short post. 🙂
A friend shared this excerpt as her Facebook status and it was so beautiful that I am sharing it here. I also just purchased my first Pema Chodron collection cause sometimes a good book is everything.
There is a story of a woman running away from tigers. She runs and runs and the tigers are getting closer and closer. When she comes to the edge of a cliff, she sees some vines there, so she climbs down and holds on to the vines. Looking down, she sees there are tigers below her as well. She then notices a mouse is gnawing away at the vine to which she is clinging. She also sees a beautiful little bunch of strawberries close to her, growing out of a clump of grass. She looks up and she looks down. She looks at the mouse. Then she just takes a strawberry, puts it in her mouth, and enjoys it thoroughly. Tigers above, tigers below. This is actually the predicament that we are always in, in terms of our birth and death. Each moment is just what it is. It might be the only moment of our life; it might be the only strawberry we’ll ever eat. We could get depressed about it, or we could finally appreciate it and delight in the preciousness of every single moment.
I am very much still here… I am living my life to the very fullest.
I am happier than I have ever been… and always seeking deeper joys.
I am more authentically my self than I have ever been and I’m carving out time for solitude so I can get to know my self better.
I am trading in toxic relationships for healthy ones. I am pruning negative and toxic thoughts for the good and noble ones.
I didn’t disappear. I am very much still here.
I saw this on a friend’s instagram account and had to share because it really spoke to me today:
One of my favorite books of all time… just going over some of my highlights from previous reads… I think I’m going to read it again once I get through my current reading list cause I just miss it… it’s so full of gems about finding your Personal Legend. Here are some of my favorite excerpts:
“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity.”
“..when we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too.”
“It is we who nourish the Soul of the World, and the world we live in will be either better or worse, depending on whether we become better or worse. And that’s where the power of love comes in. Because when we love, we always strive to become better than we are.”
Coelho, Paulo. The Alchemist
If you haven’t read it, do… It’s a delight to read and it uplifts the soul.
